Engineer Philip V. Bayly, Ph.D.

Philip V. Bayly is the Lilyan and E. Lisle Hughes Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science, and professor of biomedical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Bayly received his A.B. degree in engineering science from Dartmouth College, his M.S. degree in engineering from Brown University, and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Duke University in 1993. Dr Bayly has worked at the Shriners Hospitals and for Pitney-Bowes, Inc. He has been at Washington University since 1993. Dr. Bayly's research interests are in biomechanics, nonlinear dynamics and biomedical imaging. Funding for his research has been provided by industry (The Boeing Company), the Whitaker Foundation, the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health.
